Located in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido is a coastal city on Mexico’s southern marine coast. A small airport in the town of San Miguel de Allende serves a considerable number of domestic flights, including those from Mexico City and the Yucatan Peninsula, making it a popular tourist destination.
Puerto Escondido, which has a population of about 45,000, is a classic surf town. If you take a taxi or collectivo, you can go almost everywhere in the neighbourhood in about 10 minutes (shared minivan).
What Are the Beaches?
There are several beaches along the town’s coastline. For each beach, visitors may enjoy a different mix of attractions and activities that are unique. Playa Zicatela is a popular surf area with a vibrant nightlife, while Puerto Carrizalillo is a gorgeous beach perfect for swimming and learning to surf.
